1. Who we are

Local Chaos (“the App”) is developed and published by Total Carnage (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

2. What the App does

Local Chaos is a local network intelligence and device tools app. Features may include Wi‑Fi/LAN device discovery, diagnostics, security checks, Bluetooth tools, NFC tools, IP camera discovery, local file-share browsing, automation, a local “Chaos Portal” welcome page, and an optional traffic sniffer for this device only.

3. Information we collect

We do not collect personal information on our servers for advertising or analytics. The App does not require login and does not include third-party ad SDKs.

Depending on features you use, the App may process the following data on your device:

• Network and Wi‑Fi information — SSID, connection state, local IP/subnet, nearby Wi‑Fi scan results (where permitted by Android).
• Local device discovery data — IP addresses, MAC addresses (when available), hostnames, open services, and fingerprints of devices on networks you scan.
• Location permission — Android may require location permission to access Wi‑Fi SSID / nearby Wi‑Fi APIs. The App uses this for network features, not to track your physical location for marketing.
• Bluetooth data — nearby Bluetooth device names/addresses/advertisements when you use Bluetooth tools.
• NFC data — tag UIDs and NDEF content you scan or write; optional inventory notes you save.
• Camera / microphone (optional) — only when you choose features that capture a photo or voice clip (for example casting/printing/prank media). Captures stay under your control on the device unless you send them to a device you select on your network.
• Media you add — images, audio, or video you upload for portal themes or attack-kit style features are stored in app-private storage on your phone.
• App settings and local databases — preferences, paired devices, scenes, portal stats counters, and similar app state stored locally.
• Traffic metadata (Sniffer, optional) — if you enable the sniffer, the App uses a local VPNService to observe this phone’s own traffic metadata (IPs, ports, protocol, sizes, DNS/SNI where visible). Encrypted payloads are not decrypted. Traffic is not proxied to Total Carnage servers.
• Portal session counters (local) — anonymous local counters (for example views or completion counts keyed by local client IP) for portals you host. No personal form data is requested by the portal experience.

4. How we use information

• To provide core app features (scan, discover, diagnose, control devices on your local network).
• To remember your settings and inventory on the device.
• To show diagnostics, security findings, and optional exports you choose (for example CSV/JSON).
• To operate optional local services you start (for example Chaos Portal on your LAN).

We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.

5. Data sharing and sale

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share scanned network inventories or sniffer metadata with third parties for their marketing.

Data may leave your phone only when you use a feature that contacts another device or service you choose on your network (for example printing, casting, opening a device web UI, browsing a file share), or when Android backup / your own export actions copy local files.

If required by law, we may disclose information if we actually hold it; for Local Chaos, most operational data remains on your device and is not uploaded to us.

6. Permissions

The App may request Android permissions such as:

• Internet / network state / Wi‑Fi state
• Location / Nearby Wi‑Fi Devices (for Wi‑Fi and scanning APIs)
• Bluetooth (scan/connect/advertise as needed)
• NFC
• Camera and Microphone (optional features)
• Notifications and foreground service (for ongoing sniffer/status)
• VPN permission (only if you start the local sniffer)

You can deny optional permissions; related features may be limited or unavailable.

7. Children’s privacy

Local Chaos is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until you clear app storage, uninstall the App, or delete items inside the App. Uninstalling Local Chaos removes app-private data stored by the App on that device.

9. Security

We design Local Chaos to keep sensitive network tooling local. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Use the App only on networks and devices you are authorized to manage.

10. Third-party services

The App is intended to work primarily offline / on your LAN. It does not include a third-party advertising SDK. Device vendors’ own cloud apps are separate products with their own policies if you choose to use them outside Local Chaos.

11. International users

Processing described in this policy generally occurs on your device. If you use the App outside your home country, local laws may also apply.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will be revised when changes are posted. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
