Privacy Policy for App Circle
This Privacy Policy explains how Total Carnage (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App Circle Android companion app and related App Circle services.
1. Who we are
App Circle is a “test for test” platform that helps Android testers and app posters manage closed testing campaigns. The companion app helps testers stay signed in, follow active tests, and verify that campaign apps remain installed and are opened as required.

2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use App Circle, we may process:
- Account information — username, email address, password (stored hashed on our servers), profile details you choose to provide (such as country, devices, bio), and Google Play / store email addresses you submit for closed testing.
- Authentication data — login session / API tokens stored on your device so you remain signed in.
- Campaign and testing activity — applications, job status, feedback you submit (bugs/ideas), messages, support tickets, and related timestamps.
- Device and usage verification for campaign apps only — with your permission (Android Usage Access), the companion app checks whether specific campaign app package names you are testing are installed, whether they were opened (including whether opened today), approximate last-open time, and limited foreground usage over a recent window (for example open-days and usage duration). This is used to verify tester participation and is shared with the relevant app poster on App Circle.
- App diagnostics needed to operate the service — such as basic request logs, approximate device name you send at login, and notification delivery state.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Usage Access to browse your full app list for advertising. Usage checks are limited to campaign packages associated with your active App Circle tests.
3. Permissions the Android app may request
- Internet — to communicate with App Circle servers.
- Notifications — optional reminders (for example to open a campaign app you are testing).
- Usage Access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — to verify install / open / limited usage of campaign apps you agreed to test.
- Boot completed — to reschedule background verification / reminder work after device restart.
4. How we use information
- Provide and secure App Circle accounts and the companion app
- Match testers with campaigns and show today’s testing tasks
- Verify install/open participation for active tests
- Show app posters engagement summaries for their campaigns
- Send optional testing reminders and service updates
- Prevent abuse, debug issues, and improve the service
- Comply with legal obligations where required
5. How we share information
We may share information with:
- App posters on App Circle for campaigns you join (for example username, store email when required for Play Console, job status, and companion-verified install/usage summaries).
- Service providers that host or operate infrastructure needed to run the website and API (for example web hosting and email delivery), under confidentiality and limited-purpose arrangements.
- Authorities if required by law or to protect users, rights, or safety.
We do not share your data with third-party advertisers for interest-based advertising through this companion app.
6. Data storage and security
Account and campaign data are stored on App Circle servers associated with gotchores.xyz (with failover hosting as configured). Session tokens are stored on your device. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Data retention
We retain account and testing records for as long as your account remains active and as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, enforce policies, and meet legal requirements. Device verification records related to a testing job are retained while relevant to that campaign and afterwards as needed for integrity / dispute handling. You may request account deletion by contacting us.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can revoke Usage Access or notification permission in Android settings.
- You can log out of the companion app to remove the local session token.
- You can update profile / store email details in App Circle.
- Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data. Contact us to make a request.
9. Children’s privacy
App Circle is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. International users
If you access App Circle from outside the country where our servers are located, your information may be processed in that hosting location. By using the service you understand that processing may occur there subject to applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will change when we do. Continued use of App Circle after an update means you accept the revised policy.
